Beginning Embroidery

Whether you’re a beginner or coming back to embroidery, this is the workshop for you. Learn the basics of hand embroidery and take home a lovely sunflower in autumn colors at the end of the workshop. A variety of stiches will be taught as well as how to begin and finish your project. Instructor, Laura Trethaway, has been doing all types of needlework for more than two decades and is very excited to share her craft with you. A great class for beginners or intermediate students. The cost of the class includes all materials and instruction needed to complete the project.

Beginner Soap Making

Instructor: Amelia Perkins

Learn the basics of soap making in this fun, small group setting. Each student will get to make their own custom bar soap. Instructor, Amelia Perkins, will have many choices of organic essential oils to scent their soaps with. Students will also be able to choose from a variety of inclusions from soothing clay, detoxifying charcoal, to mica colorants and exfoliants as well as soap base oils from an array of certified organic carrier oils. Bring a friend and make it a fun morning together creating amazing soap.

Included in the cost of the class are all the materials and instruction needed to complete your soap.

Greeting Card Designing

Card artist, Kathy Lesica, is excited to work with students to create six or more different greeting cards that are sure to impress any recipient. Working at their own pace, students will learn simple die cuts, stamping, layering, punching, embossing and fold techniques. All supplies, tape, scissors, glue dots, stock, envelopes, ink, stamps, ribbon, enhancements and equipment will be included. If time allows, students will have the opportunity to create their very own design using all the learned techniques. Class fee includes all materials and instruction to create at least 6 cards.

Jewelry Making

Join the fun making your own one of a kind earring and bracelet set featuring beautiful evil eye beads. Instructor, Val Koen, of Teddy’s Hidden Treasure will guide students through the process of choosing from a wide variety of beads to make gorgeous jewelry. Two Color Double Knitting

Instructor: Alice Jordan

The wonderful technique of double knitting creates a two-layer fabric with stitches on both sides. The finished fabric is completely reversible, lending itself to color work, contrasting fibers or simply a knit-faced fabric that is twice as warm!

In this half day workshop led by instructor, Alice Jordan, students will begin and work on the Surprise Stripes reversible scarf.

Materials students will need to bring to the workshop:
-Size 8 double-pointed needles
-2 different colored skeins of worsted weight (279 yards) yarn

Hands-on Candle Making

In this workshop, students will learn the art of soy candle making from an amazing mother/daughter team dedicated to making quality soy candles.

Sarah and Helen will guide students through the entire process from picking scents and colors, melting and mixing and, finally, completing one 4oz mason jar candle and one unique vintage container candle to take home.

All instruction and materials are included in the cost of the class.

Intro to Natural Color

Make beautiful, lasting color from natural materials. Join Marcia MacDonald of Lana Plantae Yarns for a full day exploration of the natural dye process. You will use two ancient, natural dyes: conchineal, a scale insect (Dactulopius coccus) and madder root (Rubia tinctoria) as well as marigold (Tagetes Spp.).

Marcia will cover the entire process from mordants to creating various colors with her dyes. Working with wool yarn, students will create a beautiful palette of lasting colors.

Marcia MacDonald of Lana Plantae Yarns has been raising alpacas and sheep and dying her wool naturally for nearly 20 years on her farm in Maine. Prior to moving to her farm, Marcia worked as a landscape gardener. Using plant dyes on her small-batch produced yarn harmoniously unites her passions.

Spinning 101

Want to bring your fiber obsession to the next level? Zwitsa Kachinski will teach you the joy of creating your own yarn. In this workshop, you will learn the basics of spinning: draftings and creating singles.

Each student will be provided with a roving and a wheel to use in class. If you own your own wheel, you are welcome to bring it to use during the workshop.

If you end up loving spinning, you are welcome to rent a wheel for $15 a week, or if you’d like to purchase a wheel you may credit up to $90 towards your wheel purchase.This way you can try a few different models before making a decision.

All matierials and instruction are included in the cost of the workshop.

Students will learn the basics of punch needle, and after working on a practice sample, students will begin working on an autumn related project. Rigid Heddle Loom Weaving

In this full day workshop, students will get a great introduction to simple weaving techniques on a pre-warped rigid heddle loom. Instructor, Zwitsa Kachinski, will discuss the parts of the loom and each student will weave a shawl or scarf that they will be proud to wear or gift.
